Lot 1: Das Institut für Raumsysteme (IRS) der Universität Stuttgart benötigt Reaktionsräder für den 80 kg schweren SmallSat ROMEO. Die ROMEO Mission soll neue Technologien im niedrigen- und mittleren Erdorbit demonstrieren, Strahlungsanalysen durchführen und das Erdalbedo beobachten. Reaktionsräder sind ein wichtiger Bestandteil des Lageregelungssystems für Satelliten. Diese können die Lage und Orientierung im Weltraum durch das Aufbringen eines Drehmomentes präzise steuern und somit den Satelliten auf wenige Bogenminuten genau ausrichten. Weiterhin können mithilfe von Reaktionsrädern starke Störmomente, wie z.B. durch einen Ausrichtungsfehler von Triebwerken im Satellit, ausgeglichen werden. Für den ROMEO Satelliten werden aus genau diesem Grund relativ starke Reaktionsräder benötigt.
