QUB/2493/24 Contract for the Supply, Delivery, Installation, Commissioning, Training and Maintenance of a Multi-modal Ophthalmic Imaging System

Published

Description

Queen’s University of Belfast wishes to procure a Multi-modal Ophthalmic Imaging System (designed for small animals i.e. mice, rats and rabbits), with all computing hardware and all PC software programmes required to operate the imaging system. This single system must provide a combination of specialist imaging modes and quality imaging of retinal and choroid tissues from research animals which is needed for in-depth bio-analysis.

This proposed solution must be a single instrument with combined multi-modal features which enable the researcher to image the eyes in the following modes:

(i) Optimal Coherence Tomography (OCT)
(ii) Additional feature of OCT-Angiography (OCT-A)
(iii) Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscopy (SLO)
(iv) Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA),

The proposed solution must combine several imaging technologies to provide high-quality images and detailed analytical studies for publication as required by research grant objectives.

This combination of technologies is essential as one instrument will be able to image the animal in multiple modes and the animal will not need to be repeatedly anesthetised and moved from one instrument to another to obtain the required images (thus addressing QUB ethical undertaking of the “3 Rs” in animal research).
