Future Farms Site – Contractors – Off Grid Energy Supply Solution
Published
Description
Future Farms Site – Contractors Tender OpportunityLocation: Land to the north of Wern Lane, Sarn Village, Newtown, Powys.Timeframe:Tenders Open: 9am Thursday 14th November 2024Tenders Close: 5pm Thursday 5th December 2024Tenders assessed: Friday 6th December 2024Bidders notified: Monday 9th DecemberProject OverviewFuture Farms is a partnership funded pilot project to create 3 new affordable, low impact rural enterprise dwellings, a shared packing / storage shed and other associated works on a 35 acre, bare land, holding on the outskirts of the village of Sarn, Powys.A full planning application has been submitted to the Local Planning Authority and can be found searching the Powys Planning Portal using the following reference: 24/0443/FUL and an additional application for a ground mounted solar array has been submitted:Reference: 24/1319/FULProposal: Erection of two rows of solar array Site Address: Land To The North Of Wern Lane, Wern Lane, Sarn, Newtown, PowysWe are now seeking quotations from experienced and qualified contractors (ones that meet current CDM requirements) to provide a fully off grid power supply solution for the farm site including distribution of power to distribution boards within the dwellings and barn. The project team may be able to provide trenching for the site distribution, but it would be helpful for you to include this in your costings so we can compare. We expect you to provide the cabling requirements for the site.We anticipate that within the barn, provision of space can be made for the main distribution board / inverters and any battery solutions. The Future Farms partnership has made some informed assumptions of the needs of the site and alternative options for power. We are awaiting a grid connection quotation for the site, but it is highly un-likely we will have any available grid connection to complement any ‘off-grid’ solution. We require submissions to fully detail the solutions for power generation, storage and back up (should they be required) to give a 365 day a year power solution to the homes and barn. Our energy usage / consumption estimates should give sufficient detail for power demands but these should be taken as a higher end calculation (i.e. they building some redundancy / overcapacity already). The Solar Array application we have submitted is to be used as a maximum guide, not what is absolutely necessary. We will require your submission to include your site specific evidence and calculations that form the backbone of your proposed solutions. Please note this is a funded project and the timeframes for completion are very tight and we will be asking for the majority of any installation to be completed by the end of Feb 2025.Received tenders will be scored against the following criteria:Item % Score / WeightingDesign of a system that fully meets the need of the site - 40%Value for Money: we have budgeted for around £50,000 of cost for this element of the project - 40%Experience of delivering this type of work - 10%Start Date & Completion Time Frames to be detailed - 10%We anticipate issuing further tender opportunities for other elements of the site developments in due course.Files / Drawings to use when considering your tender submission:1. General Site Layout2. Detailed drawings of buildings3. Solar Array Planning Application4. Estimated power demands for dwellings and barn5. Other files as contained in the planning application 24/0443/FUL & 24/1319/FULProcess for applicationsPlease submit your quotation via the Sell2Wales portal / post box facility or email them directly to finance@farmgarden.org.ukYour quotation should include:• A fully completed cost for all elements / items of works fully detailing VAT costs where applicable but having regard for the fact that Social Farms and Gardens, whom are leading the project are a registered charity.• A brief suggested program of works.• A testimonial or statement on your company’s suitability for the works required.• Clear and full specifications of the main elements of the off grid solutions you proposed (i.e. panels, batteries, back solution and or others).• Where applicable a company address, company number and VAT number. Please use all the criteria above to demonstrate your suitability for this piece of work.Submissions must be received by 17:00 Thursday 5th December 2024.The Partnership includes representatives from:- Social Farms & Gardens- Our Food 1200- Landworkers’ Alliance- Ecological Land Cooperative- Shared Assets- Black Mountains College- Gwlad Consortium- Cultivate – North and South Powys Sustainable Food Places Partnerships- Lantra- Powys County Council- Eco Dyfi – Pathways to Farming- Nature Friendly Farming NetworkContact for further information:Lead architect: Damon Webb, Feral Studios: feralstudioarchitecture@gmail.comMeggie Rogers Ryall, Communications Lead, Social Farms & Gardens: meggie@farmgarden.org.ukwww.farmgarden.org.ukNOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=145978.The buyer has indicated that it will accept electronic responses to this notice via the Postbox facility.
