Description
Summary of work The Pharmacy Digital Transformation ePortfolio Discovery supports NHS England's goal to enhance pharmacist training and education through digital innovation. This initiative aims to develop a unified ePortfolio system to improve the learning experience for pharmacists, aligning with evolving healthcare standards and regulations. The discovery phase, scheduled between 22/04/2024 and 29/06/2024, seeks to identify the optimal ePortfolio solution to support this policy goal. It is imperative that recommendations for the alpha phase development are concluded by the end date to ensure timely progression in line with NHS England’s strategic objectives for workforce training and education enhancement. The business problem "NHS England requires a solution for the fragmented Foundation (Year 5) and Newly Qualified Pharmacist Pathway (NQPhP (Year 6)) ePortfolio systems. The people who will use the product or service User type: Learners Definition: "Leaners need to document and map development against competency frameworks within an ePortfolio, so they can demonstrate progression and compliance with programme requirements. Supervisors need to monitor and provide feedback on learners progression, as to support their development and provide evidence to enable them to declare them as being suitable for completion of programme. As a supporter of learner in practice (fellow HCP, Patients etc), I need to be able provide feedback to the learner. NHS England, need to be able to upload users and be able to monitor progression. As to be assured as per our delegated responsibility from General Pharmaceutical Council. It needs to link to training information systems (API)." Any pre-market engagement done Not applicable. Work done so far The work entails conducting a discovery phase to identify and recommend a suitable ePortfolio solution for the Foundation and Newly Qualified Pharmacist Programmes within NHS England. This involves capturing user needs, assessing technical requirements, and providing recommendations for the alpha phase development to enhance pharmacist training and education processes. Which phase the project is in Discovery Existing team The supplier will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team from NHS England's Workforce, Training & Education department. This team includes members from the Digital Project Advisory Group (DPAG), Procurement, Commercial, and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) divisions. The team is responsible for overseeing the digital transformation of the Foundation (Yr5) and NQPhP (Yr6). It comprises project managers, digital transformation specialists, education and training professionals, IT experts, and commercial advisors. Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge in healthcare education, digital solutions, procurement processes, and technical requirements to ensure the successful delivery of the ePortfolio system transformation project. Address where the work will be done The work will primarily be conducted remotely; however, the supplier's team may need to attend occasional meetings and collaborative sessions at NHS England's offices. These locations include central London for coordination with the national Workforce, Training & Education team and other relevant stakeholders within the South East of England. Additionally, engagement with local pharmacy teams and educators may require visits to sites within the North West of England to ensure a comprehensive understanding of regional needs and integration into the national framework. The supplier should be prepared to travel as needed to these areas to facilitate effective communication and project progress. Working arrangements The supplier should take a flexible approach rather than working at set times/places. The supplier should work on dedicated, pre-planned and pre-approved research activities with planned outcomes, with regular feedback to the team. Work on different programmes should be done separately, as the programmes may have different user needs, but there must be a mechanism to bring work together to identify similarities which may inform the recommendation. The supplier will propose how to do this, while bringing together for recommendation. The supplier will need to propose an approach which connects with all teams to optimise engagement.
