Overhead Line Equipment Renewal Package Market Sounding
Published
Description
The Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) on the Manchester Metrolink Bury Line (Victoria to Bury Tram Stops) and between Deansgate Castlefield to Trafford Bar stops on the Altrincham Line, for the most part, are the original equipment installed in 1992. As such, the assets in these areas are starting to become life expired and are due for renewal. The aim of the OLE Renewal Package is to primarily determine the current condition of the OLE assets (including foundations) and then to deliver a series of targeted, defined renewals. The current asset information is not to a suitable level that TfGM are able to define a clear remit for renewals. As such, a series of asset condition surveys are required to be completed to fully ascertain the remaining life expectancy of the OLE and to enable TfGM to make an informed decision on any renewal works to be undertaken. The asset condition must as a minimum include both OLE main steel, small parts steel and wiring as well as OLE foundations(non-exhaustive). Subject to a subsequent Procurement exercise (following completion of this Market Sounding exercise) TfGM will be seeking to appoint a suitably experienced Main Contractor to develop and deliver the required works. The Main Contractor will take on both the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor roles. The purpose of this Market Sounding exercise is; · To establish the appetite and capacity for the package from the marketplace in its currently proposed form in terms of procurement approach, delivery and technical requirements. · To obtain feedback on the proposed procurement and contracting strategy. Participation in this market sounding is voluntary, and this exercise is entirely separate from any subsequent procurement activity. Participation in this market sounding will not affect the opportunity for suppliers to participate in any subsequent procurement and will not form part of any procurement assessment or selection process.
