Chilled Water Cooling System for COMPASS (Composites at Speed and Scale) Facility
Published
Description
The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for a 'Chilled Water Cooling System ' on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Castings Group at Catcliffe, South Yorkshire. The AMRC has recently won HICOMS funding for an 'automated, large scale composites manufacturing centre', including a 'fully automated layup and consolidation cell' which will require a 'Chilled Water Cooling System'. The 'Chilled Water Cooling System' will sit adjacent to a new facility, feeding and controlling a chilled water ring main inside the building which may be used by the following equipment: - -Hydraulic Press -Resin Injection Unit -Tool Heating System - comprised of 8 individual temperature control units For the avoidance of doubt, this equipment does not form part of this tender exercise. The finished and equipped facility will be known as 'COMPASS'. Please note that it is anticipated that the 'Chilled Water Cooling System' will be a single chiller unit, external to the COMPASS building and associated pipework into the building, forming a ring main for various pieces of capital equipment, including the 'Hydraulic Press', the 'Resin Injection Unit', and the 8 individual heaters as per above. It is anticipated that the 'Chilled Water Cooling System' is required to be ready for Installation, Commissioning and Acceptance (SAT) around June 2025 due to building of the COMPASS facility which is currently under construction. However, we are looking for some flexibility around Delivery, Installation. Commissioning and Acceptance (SAT) in line with the construction of the COMPASS facility. As part of your tender response please provide a detailed project plan (including, but not limited to, the design, build, Delivery, Installation Commissioning and Acceptance (SAT) and training etc.) which also incorporates the above dates. The 'Chilled Water Cooling System' is to be used to control the temperature of a number of key pieces of equipment within the new COMPASS facility including a 'Hydraulic Press' already on order from Langzauner (model/type number LZT-OK-2400-SO), a mould tool thermal oil heating system (the 'Tool Heating System' set out above (8 no. 'i-TEMP Max tt4's' from TechnoTrans) already on order from ICS Cool Energy) connected to an AMRC customer supplied matched die, metallic mould tool (weighing approximately 180 tonnes) and a 'Resin Injection Unit' (not as yet specified). Tender Process and Documentation: This procurement is an open procedure. The ITT can be downloaded by registering and expressing your interest on the University`s e-tendering system https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Sheffield If you have any questions or comments in relation to this tender they must be submitted via the In-tend System, this can be accessed at https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Sheffield Completed tenders must be returned through the same e-tendering system.
