Description
This procurement concerns the purchase of light sensors to be used in the ocean at great depths. The desires light sensors are, according to the client's knowledge, not developed or possible to purchase as a finished product or off the shelf. Therefore the clients wants to purchase light sensors that are developed by a supplier to meet our requirements. We want to purchase a light sensor that can measure lower light sensitivities (dusk), that is available from the photic zone down in the mesopelagic zone (100 m to 800 m depth) and on the surface at dusk and at night. Click here https://permalink.mercell.com/116998742.aspx The clients wants to research more about the distribution and behaviour of marine organisms in relation to light and particularly organisms that live in the mesopelagic zone. Mesopelagic organisms are known to be very responsible and structured in their behavioural movement of the inherent light conditions. The client wants to purchase light sensors that will be used for our research vessels. We currently use PAR light sensors, that are made to measure photosynthetic light. PAR sensors and other commercially available light sensors are not sensitive to low light intensities and are therefore not able to measure light levels at mesopelagic depths. We want to purchase a light sensor that can measure lower light sensitivities (dusk), that is available from the photic zone down in the mesopelagic zone (100 m to 800 m depth) and on the surface at dusk and at night. The light sensors must comply with our existing Sea-Bird cabled CTD system. CTD is an abbreviation for conductivity, temperature and depth and is an instrument to measure the physical values of seawater, such as conductivity, temperature and pressure in the entire water column. Sea-Bird SBE 911 Plus with water collection ring, SBE 32, is part of the standard equipment on the client's own sailing vessels. The light sensor will be mounted on the water collection ring (SBE 32) and communicate through an analogue (0-5 volt) port on CTD (SBE 911). The client wants to procure light sensors that can be included in the standard equipment. The standard equipment withstands pressure down to 6 000 metres deep. The light sensor must withstand sunshine and external temperatures. The light sensor must be able to transfer integrated intensity in real-time through CTD. At the same time, it must be able to measure light intensity over the entire spectral range to PAR (400-700 mm) and store this data in it's own memory. The light sensors sensitivity must cover the entire intensity range from 10(1*) down to 10(-11*) quantities/m(2*)/s. (* numbers in potency, raised script). The light sensor must also be able to be used as a stand-alone without CTD. For example, anchored to a ROV (remote controlled vehicle) or AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). The comprehensive data collected must be easily transferable when the light sensor is back on-board the vessel. The client has 6 vessels with Sea-Bird wired CTD system. The aim is to equip the client's vessel with their own light sensors, so that new data can be collected each time CTD is used. The purchase in relation to this contract is limited to 1 light sensors. The purchase includes development, manufacturing and testing the light sensor with a guarantee and support as described. If the light sensor is successful, the option can be triggered to purchase, partially or as a whole, the number the client needs. The client retains the right to purchase up to 10 extra light sensors within 2 years after the first light sensory is delivered, tested and accepted. The light sensors must be of the same quality as the first or better, but they can be ordered with minor modification after further agreement.
