The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine are offering for tender the manufacture of cages to trap a large mammal, meles meles. The cage will be made from 2” by 1” by 10-gauge copper dipped weld mesh mild steel S275 or better. During manufacture, if any joints need to be welded, this process MUST only be undertaken by a certified welder. Prove of certification will be requested. The cage, including the closing mechanism will be made with animal welfare in mind. The cage when manufactured should be protected by a material that will make it weather resistant and have a lifespan of 8 to 10 years. The finished material should be such that the cage will be camouflaged when in use.
