Provision of services for horticultural statistics

This is a project to provide annual data to the Defra statistics team on the volumes of production and values of key horticultural crops (fruit, vegetables, ornamentals and potatoes) that growers receive.<br/><br/>The overriding aim of this Contract is to enable the Authority to estimate the value and volume of production of horticulture and potatoes in England and Wales (unless otherwise specified). The requirement is for the collection, evaluation and dissemination of data for fruit, vegetables, and ornamentals and potatoes (grown in the open and under protection) in England and Wales, as well as monthly marketing tonnage for the key fruit, and vegetable and potato crops.<br/><br/>This data is used to produce statistics that meet UK and International reporting requirements. The statistics produce annual estimates of the UK supply of horticultural produce and the share of UK consumption and production of UK farm accounts. The data will become part of an ongoing time series of horticultural statistics.<br/><br/>This is an ongoing requirement to receive annual estimates of production and value of key horticultural crops. 3 -year contract with the option of a 1+1 year extension.<br/><br/>The Authority needs statistical information to support the implementation and development of its sustainable farming and food strategy, the compilation of official statistics such as Horticulture Statistics, Value of UK production for fruit, vegetables, potatoes and ornamentals to contribute to the National Account, as well as to support information requests from ministers, government departments and FOI requests.<br/>Critical dates for data reports will need to be met and are listed within the Draft Specification.<br/><br/>This PIN is to determine the validity of holding a future competition to conduct this work.
