Network Rail is pleased to host a series of Industry Engagement Events following on from the opportunity published under publication reference 2021/S/ 000-004088 - PIN for the Mobile Infrastructure Monitoring Category Strategy. The first event is planned to be hosted on 19th July 2022 followed by a series of face to face/ virtual 1-2-1 sessions. It is anticipated that further Industry Engagement Events will be hosted later in the year. Please register your interest by emailing the names of those attending back to Improgramme@networkrail.co.uk. RSVP by 15th July. As part of its reliability centred maintenance Network Rail has an extensive Infrastructure Monitoring (IM) programme that provides information to the regional engineering teams on the condition of their assets and trend analysis to identify and classify defects to facilitate corrective and preventative maintenance of the network. In this project we would like to focus on the mobile infrastructure monitoring operations currently undertaken via trainborne collection methods. There are a range of operations and supporting contracts for the current service delivery ranging from the purchase, operation and maintenance of the current IM fleet, technology and the associated systems used for data analytics and reporting. Collaboration will be critical in developing new services that meet the future asks of infrastructure monitoring. So please share this with other relevant organisations who you believe could support this project. Lot 1: Network Rail specifies, collects and analyses various and comprehensive data about their railway assets condition (20 petabytes of data collected annually, 750,000 miles of track surveyed, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations). The data is used to provide insight and intelligence to the route maintenance teams and asset management teams, who look at the longer terms needs of the asset base. A wide variety of technologies are being used for both, capturing data and processing it. In doing so, it is key that the right data is captured in the most efficient and safe manner. This includes reducing to a minimum the requirement for personnel to access the trackside in order to carry out rail infrastructure monitoring activities. This project a is company-wide programme looking to provide an integrated approach to infrastructure monitoring activity which is currently undertaken by trainborne collection methods. Network Rail is seeking to engage with the supply chain to help shape the future sourcing strategy.
