The DTU Department of Health Technology on DTU Risø Campus in Roskilde possesses an MDS Nordion Gamma cell 220 Irradiator S/N 220R. It serves as the national standard for high-dose dosimetry. The gamma cell was initially installed in 2007, and it was resourced in 2014. The existing loading of the Gamma cell consists of 20 type C-198 sources of total activity 15 kCi (555 TBq) in April 2014. The number of free source positions in the source cage is 28. DTU wants to re-source the Gamma cell to achieve a total activity of 15 kCi (555 TBq) of Co-60. This may be achieved by the addition, or replacement, of sources in existing Gamma cell, or by the supply of an exchange Gamma cell with new sources. The MDS Nordion Gamma cell 220 Irradiator S/N 220R is shown on the enclosed picture in Appendix C. The gamma cell was initially installed in 2007, and it was resourced in 2014. The existing loading of the Gamma cell consists of 20 type C-198 sources of total activity 15 kCi (555 TBq) in April 2014. The number of free source positions in the source cage is 28. DTU wants to re-source or replace sources in the Gamma cell to achieve a total activity of 15 kCi (555 TBq) of Co-60. This may be achieved by the addition, or replacement, of sources in existing Gamma ell, or by the supply of an exchange Gamma cell with new sources. A replacement must have at least 10 individual source rods with activity distributed uniformly around the source cage. A re-sourced Gamma cell must have at least ten new individual source rods with activity distributed uniformly around the source cage. Each source to be ‘dumb-bell’ loaded with equal activity in top and bottom third of rod. The middle third to be inactive spacer. The proposed source distribution must be included in the tender documents returned to DTU. The task implies uninstalling the Gamma cell from it’s location on DTU, Risø, see Appendix 4 – Map of location. When the Gamma cell has been uninstalled, the Gamma cell has to be transported to the place, where the tenderer has to re-source or replace sources rods in the MDS Nordion Gamma cell 220 Irradiator S/N 220R. The place can be outside of DTU or on DTU (but outside of a building). When the Gamma cell has been re-sourced, the Gamma cell has to be transported back to the location in the room on DTU, Risø and reinstalled. After the reinstallation an acceptance test has to be per-formed. DTU conducts an arrangement where the tenderers is able to view the Gamma Cell and the location of the Gamma Cell. The arrangement will be on March 3th, at 14 p.m. More information about the arrangement will be give about 5 days in advange. As stated in the agreement, the tenderer has full responsibility for the execution of the task. The responsibility applies from when the Tenderer starts to uninstall the Gamma Cell to the Gamma Cell is reinstalled on DTU, Risø. Therefore, the tenderer needs to take care of all necessary safety measures in connection with the execution of the task according to the law, including obtaining the necessary certificates, insurances etc.
