Award of contract This contest was for the procurement of shipyard services for docking and carrying out repair, maintenance, and improvement work on the ice going research vessel 'Kronprins Haakon', which is further specified in the tender documentation point 2.3 and the accompanying requirements and shipyard specifications. The Institute of Marine Research intends to procure ship yard services for docking and carrying out stated maintenance, repair, and improvement work in the period 20 November 2022 to 7 January 2023. Lot 1: The procurement was for shipyard services for docking 'Kronprins Haakon' and carrying out repair, maintenance, and improvement work on the vessel in the period from 20 November 2022 to 7 January 2023, as detailed described below and in the attached requirements and shipyard specifications. During the shipyard stay, work will be carried out, amongst other things, that is related to the 5 year classification of the vessel, see the tender documentation, point 2.3 and accompanying shipyard specifications.. After the guarantee period has expired for 'Kronprins Haakon', there is a need to carry out simple remaining improvement work on board the vessel, as described detail in the tender documentation, point 2.3 and the accompanying shipyard specifications. In addition there are a number of other repair and maintenance jobs that we would like to carry out during the shipyard stay, which are described in detail in the tender documentation, point 2.3 and in the accompanying shipyard specifications. Furthermore, the hangar gates in the main hangar on board 'Kronprins Haakon' are to be replaced. Two (2) hangar gates are installed in the main hangar - one (1) hangar gate on the starboard side of the ship and one (1) hangar gate at the stern towards the working deck. The existing hangar gates are rolling gates. After the vessel was put into ordinary operations in 2018, it has become apparent that the installed hangar gates do not tolerate seawater, or more specifically, waves that wash over the deck in bad weather ('green sea'). A need has thus arisen to replace the existing hangar gates on board with new and more robust hangar gates, as described in detail in the tender documentation, point 2.3 and the accompanying requirements and ship yard specifications. Finally, an option has been included for sandblasting and painting three (3) fresh water tanks on board 'Kronprins Haakon'. An attempt has previously been made to improve these fresh water tanks due to rust formation and a general rough/uneven finish on the paint in the upper part of the tanks. After the attempt to improve patches, rust has occurred and the paint has become flaky, so the painting system loosens from the steel. An option is included in this contract for sandblasting and applying a new painting system in the fresh water tank 162 starboard/port and tank 12 centre, as described in details in the tender documentation, point 2.3 and the accompanying shipyard specifications.
