Published
Description
This Prior Information Notice (‘PIN’) is in relation to the New Hospital Programme (NHP) market engagement activity rather than a specific contract or proposed procurement. This PIN is to inform and invite the market to register their interest in attending the New Hospital Programme Industry Day event on Tuesday 20th September 2022. Market participants are invited to register their interest to attend via the link provided in this PIN below. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeD26l_K_hAeJK0AMtfIVzJOH8RY-CKYmWeb-xVTgzR0vyQyg/viewform Lot 1: The Government has announced that we will build 40 new hospitals by 2030. Together with 8 hospital schemes which have secured previous investment and will be delivered as part of the programme, this will result in 48 hospitals by the end of the decade, the biggest hospital building programme in a generation. The Government has previously confirmed an initial £3.7billion for the first four years to support the delivery of 48 hospitals by 2030. This was part of a multi-year capital funding settlement in 2020.

The new hospitals form part of the Government’s wider Health Infrastructure Plan, a strategic long-term investment to ensure our world-class healthcare system and staff have the world-class facilities they need for the future.

The New Hospital Programme has already initiated early supply market involvement across a wide range of suppliers and topics in support of developing the approach, including:
• Procurement & commercial considerations;
• Modern Methods of Construction (MMC);
• Net zero carbon;
• Digital technologies;
• Future healthcare demand and capacity modelling;
• Skills & workforce;
• Evolving clinical and operational models;
• Integration with regions and systems;
• Improved community service.

Our approach to building new hospitals will transform the way we deliver healthcare infrastructure for the NHS. New standards will be developed to help standardise the design of new hospitals and make use of modular construction methods to speed up the build. The programmatic approach will facilitate continual improvement and adapt in response to lessons learned from earlier schemes.

As part of the delivery of these new hospitals, NHS Trusts, with support of the central programme team, will be incorporating best practice design certified with input from the UK's best qualified healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality standards; with particular focus in areas such as improved patient flow, digitisation of services and clinical requirements. The new hospitals will make an important contribution to the Government's net zero target, and wider ambitions for sustainable development, and will complement those outlined in the NHS Long-Term Plan.

The New Hospital Programme Industry Day event

This event forms part of the New Hospital Programme’s ongoing and iterative early market engagement. Taking place on Tuesday 20th September 2022 in Birmingham, this hybrid event will offer both physical and online attendee options.

The New Hospital Programme invites any interested parties across the whole supplier base to register their interest to attend. This PIN does not relate to a specific contract or proposed procurement but is to inform and invite any interested parties across the market to the New Hospital Programme Industry Day event.
