Description

The London Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) invites you to bid for the second iteration of its award-winning, community-led MyEnds programme. The MyEnds programme utilises a hyper-local approach to address needs in neighbourhoods across the capital that are most affected by high and sustained levels of violence. The core model endorsed by the VRU for this programme is based on the empowerment of communities, recognising the critical role and collective impact community stakeholders have in local violence reduction initiatives. This is achieved through the delivery of key activity strands, including strengthening local partnerships, young people and community participation, capacity building of the grassroots sector, and the delivery of locally informed interventions. MyEnds 2.0 is an evolved version of the flagship VRU MyEnds programme which will run from April 2024 until March 2026. This new iteration will allow us to implement key learning from the original MyEnds programme and strengthen the key components of the overall programme design, optimising innovation with more targeted strategic alignment. Fifteen boroughs have been shortlisted as eligible for MyEnds 2.0 based on analysis of areas which were consistently rated highly on a range of violence and public health indicators. This analysis utilises an updated version of the VRU Area Prioritisation Tool which was used in 2019 to identify areas eligible for the programme pilot. The tool identifies areas (at ward-level) that have values within the top 15% of wards in London over a substantial period (from 2018-2023). Based on this listing, the 15 boroughs with the highest-scoring wards were shortlisted. This selection process is designed to give a broad picture of violent crime and public health issues being faced across London. The tool includes data on different types of police recorded violent crime; perceptions of crime, local area and the police from the MOPAC Public Attitudes Survey; and public health data from a range of official sources. We have included the top 15 boroughs to allow for a wide scope of potential applicants. Networks who apply will be invited to provide additional detail on local need in their proposed delivery location. Eligible Boroughs: 1. Islington 2. Croydon 3. Lambeth 4. Hackney 5. Enfield 6.
