Description
The University of Plymouth is seeking for an an initial estimate by way of day/week rates for a specialist move contractor to undertake the relocation of a range of scientific and heavy engineering equipment during the summer of 2023. Works will include decommissioning, dismantling, and moving identified items of equipment and installation, testing, calibrating where appropriate and commissioning in the new building. The equipment schedule and moves programme is still to be confirmed after various tenders for new equipment have concluded - hence the request for high level day/week rates and our preference to engage with contractors that will work with a degree of flexibility regarding programme until this has been confirmed in early 2023. In terms of appointment, the University has certain thresholds which could trigger the requirement for a formal tender process based on the returned estimated. Please see attached following supporting documentation: High Level Moves Programme - Showing the confirmed key constraints and is summarised as follows: • Building in Use Date 18/09/23 or earlier. This date cannot shift to the right. • Earliest start date for works on site from first week in June where we will have early access to the building, ahead of contractual completion. • A three week embargo from accessing the new building will be in place from 03/07/23 to 21/07/23 • Contractual Completion 27/07/23 - risk of delay reasonably low. A site plan - Showing the neighbouring buildings • Brunel Laboratory houses the largest quantity of heavy equipment, is single story with level, ramped access and wide roller shutters to many areas. There are some mezzanine levels and this building will be demolished following decant. • Smeaton houses smaller specialist equipment all on the ground floor • Babbage/NEDF is the new building currently in construction and spans 4 storeys. Most equipment to be relocated are on the GF with ample level access. • Marine Building contains some water related equipment to be moved into the STEAM/Controls Labs GAs of both buildings - Showing access arrangements and indicative locations for points A and B. Indicative types of Lab Equipment to be moved but still TBC Metal Workshop - Freestanding and desk mounted equipment (welders, cold press etc). Wood Workshop - Milling machines, CNC, sanders, band saws etc Digital Fabrication Lab - Laser cutters, 3d printers etc Composites Lab - Injection machine, laminator, oven etc Structures Lab - Heavy and large reaction/test frames, shaker tables etc Clean Room - Vibration sensitive equipment - most equipment is small and light, Sputter machines Precision Engineering Lab - Similar to wood workshop but larger, industrial machines (CNC, lathes etc) STEAM Lab - TBC Control Lab - TBC Energy Lab - TBC To be notified about the tender for this project please register to our e-tendering portal: https://uk.eu-supply.com/ Please submit your proposal to procurement@plymouth.ac.uk
