Description

The Contractor is invited to tender for the proposed retrofit, to Upcycle Kernow CIC, Unit 1 Palms Oasis, New Portreath Road, Cornwall, TR16 4FX. To retrofit the building to reduce carbon emissions, improve thermal performance and energy efficiency. Aligns with Cornwall Council's Local Area Energy Plan (LAEP) and contributes to a sustainable future. Primary goal is to upcycle the building, originally a 1941 RAF support facility, into a light-filled, eco-friendly & efficient community space. The space will house various activities and facilities, incl wheelchair-accessible workshop space, kitchen, toilets and fire escape. Transform the building to meet modern standards, replace asbestos roof, and make workshop accessible to differently-abled people. Project is being commissioned by Upcycle Kernow CIC, a not-for-profit community interest company who aim to create an holistic, environmentally conscious & inclusive community space to addresses various societal & environmental challenges while promoting sustainability & community growth. It aligns with local and regional plans for addressing climate change, improving the quality of life for all residents and the wider communities that use the services. Click on the link at the bottom of sign in page which says 'or continue with download only' The Works Information for this tender will form part of the JCT Minor Works with Contractors Design Supplement Contract with contractor's design 2016 (MWCD 2016) In Kind & Match Funding - The contractor must support a level of collaborative working to allow for Volunteer Time as per the In Kind and Match Funding agreement of the SPF grant requirements. Volunteer time does not necessarily have to be onsite, but named volunteers will need access to the deconstructed materials as per the UpK's Site Waste Management Policy Building works have to be completed before or by the date given (28 Feb 2025) to comply with the SPF Grant specifications. Build time is defined by the grant funding contract so that the CIC has a period of time to achieve targets and outcomes as specified by the grant funders. This programme of works is significant to ensure grant requirements.
