The Abbeyfeale Public Realm Scheme Phase 1 consists of upgrading 440 metres on Killarney Road N21; the construction of a 90 metre temporary traffic diversion route from St. Ita’s Terrace to Killarney Road N21; construction of 100 metre new Link Road at O’Riordan’s and upgrading of Grove Crescent car park. The scheme involves laying surface water sewers, box culvert, watermains, foul sewers, ducting, undergrounding of overhead ESB and telecom wires with new services connections to private properties, construction of utility chambers and pillars, public lighting, road reconstruction, surfacing, limestone kerbing, granite slabs, exposed aggregate concrete footpaths, pedestrian crossings, backfilling of basement, installation of electric vehicle chargers, landscaping and associated works. The Abbeyfeale Public Realm Scheme Phase 1 is designed to deliver a high quality public realm scheme to enhance the built environment, improve pedestrian safety for residents and shoppers and increase the level of business in the town of Abbeyfeale. A priority of the scheme is to have the construction works carried out with minimal disruption to residents, shoppers and businesses with an emphasis on pedestrian safety, minimising supply outages, traffic delays and traffic disruption.
