The Royal Armouries purpose is to excite and educate the public about arms and armour and their impact on the people, history and cultures of Britain and the world, from ancient times to the present day. Our vision is to achieve public and professional recognition as one the world’s greatest collections of arms and armour, enjoyed and studied by increasing numbers, and as the leader in this field in research, curation and public engagement. To match this ambition we are seeking the services of a consultant with expertise in improving digital engagement in the cultural sector to help us develop the digital aspect of our offer, particularly our online presence. The consultant will be required to work with us to develop a tri-site digital strategy for the Royal Armouries. We envisage that this work will involve a significant amount of research into our current digital assets, facilities and provision combined with trends at work within the sector and current understanding of visitor expectations. As part of the commission we will be seeking the development of detailed project plans to support the delivery of specific programmes of work. The contract is due to be let by June 2015 with a view to the delivery of the final report and plans by February 2016.
