Leisure Provision Somerset Bridgwater Private Finance Initiative Schools

Somerset has two Building Schools for Future, Private Finance Initiative schools with associated leisure facilities. The current contract for the provision of leisure sports centre management services ends in October 2025. The location of the leisure facilities are Robert Blake School, Bridgwater and Chilton Trinity School, Bridgwater. The Council wishes to engage with the market ahead of a procurement of a contract to understand the level of interest in such a contract and to receive any feedback regarding the procurement route. The new contract will run to the end of the PFI contract in September 2037. Market engagement will be used to develop a procurement model which delivers commercial arrangements that permit genuine innovation and good relationships. The Council is looking for a provider which can maximise social value, deliver a high quality, inclusive, and safe service at the lowest possible cost to the Council. Further information will provided at the event. Somerset Council is planning to provide a market engagement opportunity during October 2024. Lot 1: Sports centre management services including: Management of the service. • Swimming Pool (Chilton Trinity Site only) • Gymnasiums • Artificial and Grass Pitches • Sports Hall • Dance studio • Health and Safety • An online booking system and reception service • Security through a controlled access point for all users of the facility • Maximise the use of the facilities including promotion and marketing of the facilities • Promote community use • Tuition • Work with partners to secure external funding • Cleaning of the leisure areas, excluding cleaning at height • Portering, moving of equipment, ensuring floodlights are turned off • Catering services The Council will use the market engagement to develop and finalise the specification.
