Smyth Street Retaining Wall Repair
Published
Description
Smyth Street is a one way street that takes traffic through onto Westgate in Wakefield city centre. Directly adjacent to Smyth Street is a retaining wall that retains a car park. Approx. 17.50m length of the wall is of mass concrete construction with brickwork facing and the remaining 27.5m length is solely comprised of brickwork. The works comprise: · Preliminaries. · Traffic Management. · Site Clearance. · Demolition of concrete area (Ref: C1) on drawing No. BSE/SSRW/C/01. · Take down sections of existing pedestrian guardrail and set aside for re-use. · Removal of Vegetation. · Excavation works to allow for construction of mass concrete retaining wall. · Support of existing Amey street lighting duct. · Construction of proposed mass concrete retaining wall, including drainage works and backfill. · Construction of brickwork, including provision of ties. · Joint Installation. · Reinstatement of concrete area (Ref C2) on drawing No. BSE/SSRW/C/02. · Installation/re-use of kerbs. · Reinstatement of footway and cark park carriageway. · Installation of pedestrian guardrail.
