Fabrication and Supply of Sluice Doors

Published

Description

Waterways Ireland are seeking to replace 16 number Sluice Doors at the ‘New Cut’ on the Shannon Navigation. The new cut is a bypass flood relief channel South of Banagher Co Offaly with 18 sluices and operated mainly during the summer months to control water levels in the area for navigation purposes. The sluices were installed pre 1890 and consisted of mild steel plates with Angular reinforcement riveted to the main plate with brass strips that provided a seal with the vertical guides. In 2022 two of the sluice doors were replaced. It is now proposed to replace the remaining 16 sluice doors.
