Kemnay Riverside Path

Description

The existing 1.8m width 582m long aggregate path surface has been washed away. Regrading, and adding to the existing sub-base material, the surface width will be increased to 2m width and the top surface replaced by 582m of asphalt. The existing aggregate path surface has been washed out after flood waters from the River Don damaged the path in November 2022. The surface washout is not consistent along the path; for most of the paths 582m length 80% has lost the top dust at 1.5m width within a 1.8m width path, here the existing aggregate will be regraded and compacted in preparation for the layers of rolled asphalt. For the remaining 20% of the path the scouring has been deeper and therefore 100mm of sub-base type 1 will be applied and compacted in preparation for the layers of rolled asphalt. A feature of the project is to extend the path width to 2m during the process of preparing and installing 50mm flat top edging; filling a trench along the top side of the path with 200mm width, 250mm depth, sub-base type 1, compacted in preparation for the layers of rolled asphalt.
