Description

Natural England is the governments' adviser on the Natural Environment in England and is an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by DEFRA. Natural England are seeking suitably qualified suppliers to provide resource estimates for a forthcoming project based on the Humberhead Peatlands National Nature Reserve (NNR). National Nature Reserves (NNRs) were established to protect some of our most important habitats, species and geology, and to provide 'outdoor laboratories' for research. Most NNRs offer great opportunities to schools, specialist interest groups and the public to experience wildlife at first hand and to learn more about nature conservation. Suppliers must have the capabilities and capacity to install power via the existing distribution network, to a workshop/reserve base on the Humberhead Peatlands NNR. The Requirement is for a new 2 C low voltage connection to the Distribution System (with a maximum capacity of 55 kVA at the pumping station and workshop). Due to the ground conditions, the methodology must incorporate the usage of overhead power cables; specialist low pressure vehicles may be required. Suppliers are expected to comply with the following criteria: • Be NERS accredited • Comply with G81 and G88 regulations • Ensure that Northern Powergrid is the Distributor Network Operator • Submit their design application to Northern Powergrid by 14th July 2023 • Have full CDM plans and certificates available • Ensure that Risk assessments are accurately carried out • Ensure that they are working to the highest environmental standards and to best-practice guidelines To attend a site visit, all interested parties should contact Craig Ralston (craig.ralston@naturalengland.org.uk) by 5pm on Monday 3rd July. Further information on the location for this work is below: The current location for the nearest electricity supply is Top Moors Farm - DN14 8DT (this is the nearest post code to Bank Top - grid reference is SE75517 17152). The workshop is located approximately 1 mile along a limestone track. It is surrounded by peat bog and needs to feed a pumping station (grid reference is SE75117 16316), to then bring phase 3 electric into the workshop/Reserve base (grid reference is SE74626 15199). Maps are attached for further information.
