Description

This contract has been awarded under the urgent circumstances provision of the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) and in compliance with the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. For clarification, the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 do not apply to this award. The PSR Urgent Award is implemented to safeguard patient health. Due to unforeseen resource and capacity issues, there has been a significant number of patients requiring urgent assessment and treatment, necessitating the urgent award of a short-term contract for additional capacity. Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is procuring an end-to-end outsourced Histopathology service, which encompasses the histological processing of tissue samples to produce stained slides. These slides are then interpreted and reported by a Histopathologist, resulting in a histopathology report for the requesting clinician. The provider is committed to completing sample testing and reporting within 5 days to meet the NHSE target. The cost includes all work, such as additional requests for levels, special stains, and immunocytochemistry, which are frequently required. Additionally, the provider offers a flexible approach to accommodate extra specialty sample and reporting services, as well as managing increased workloads from RCHT.
