Training simulators
Published
Description
The TEAMS simulation suite is located within the QuAD Centre at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. The T.E.A.M.S Centre is a learning facility originally opened in 2003, which contains human patient simulators for adult, paediatric, newborn and maternity manikins as well as the use of live actors for specific simulation courses. Within the centre, we provide approximately 40 different types of courses which are available for a variety of staff working within the health service. We not only provide training opportunities for staff employed for Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, but for staff working across the region and deanery. On average we facilitate training for over 1000 candidates each year from a variety of clinical practice settings, some of which are income generating. The TEAMS centre also provides in situ simulation training, where manikins and simulation faculty enter specific clinical areas within the hospital to provide scenario-based learning into the actual working environment. The suite has been designed into two individual clinical areas with camera and microphones capturing images and sound that are watched by participants within a separate debrief room through a live feed onto a smart board. The main control room has multiple monitoring and controls for sound and visuals, as well as controls for the manikins. The equipment, originally purchased in 2003, is all analogue with now increasing issues around equipment failure and challenges with replacement parts. The centre requires upgrading of equipment to meet the continued needs of this every growing facility and to upgrade to current technological advances in simulation training. Requirements Essential: - Each company provide a central station monitor to control the cameras and audio. We will need 2 central stations as we have 2 separate simulation areas - 3 replacement cameras in each simulation area – 6 in total - Mobile simulation unit to include the ability to record and cameras (each company provide this) - Microphones (in the control room) and speakers (in simulation suite) – for each side of simulation suite Desirables: - A 2nd Mobile Simulation unit - Ear-pieces and microphones for faculty (plants within the simulation scenario).
