A two-year Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Training Framework will officially be launched in Northamptonshire. The Framework has been developed to raise mental health literacy for individuals, organisations and communities living and/or working within Northamptonshire. The programme aims to synthesise training opportunities to improve knowledge and build skills both within the workforce and local population to reduce stigma and discrimination, as well as increase confidence in recognising, referring, and signposting. The programme encompasses promotion of positive mental health and wellbeing, self-help, mental health awareness, suicide prevention and intervention, as well as postvention including bereavement. A tiered approach has been adopted to ensure a variety of training is on offer ranging from awareness sessions to in-depth skills training. Members of the public, frontline workers/ volunteers of voluntary and community sector organisations, health and social care and the local authorities will be able to access the programme free of charge.
