The Contract is for the redevelopment of Ursuline College Sligo, in the curtilage of the old Ursuline convent -a protected structure in separate ownership. This to be carried over phases while the 750-pupil school and site remains occupied and operational in parallel with the phased redevelopment works. The overall project involves: New Build: 4403m². Includes a 3-storey block, 2-storey General Purpose hall connected to the existing Sports Hall (B15) and a 2-storey link building joined to the 2007-built 2-storey classroom wing (B14). Demolition: 1,897m² of 14no. various buildings, both older extensions connected to retained buildings, prefabricated stand-alone classrooms, lean-to's and out-buildings to be demolished and made good. Holding work: 1,012m² of 4no. historic 2-storey and 3-storey buildings to mitigate further deterioration pending a defined future re-use. (B01,B04 and B09, B12 remnants post demolitions) Retained school areas and refurbishments- 4174m² areas of existing buildings retained, to varying degrees of scopes of works, including; 1. Replacement and upgrade of services to the 2007-built 2-storey classroom wing (1,408m²-B12) 2. Stripping out dry lining and installing new thermal upgrade dry-lining and services and finishes upgrade throughout the main 3-storey 1932 block, including stripping and re-roofing the slate roof (1,505m²-B03) construction of new lift and stairs at knuckle between B14 and B03 3. Conservation and upgrade works including stripping and re-roofing the slate roof to the 1870's Chapel (115m²-BO2) 4. Removal of roof finishes and outer leaf from 2007-built Sports Hall (B15-1,073m²), infill of double height entrance area floor, insertion of additional structure to create a new roof, removal of concrete beams, replacement and new glazing, new finishes and linked interface with new build 2-storey link and GP Room. Protected Structure: Part of the site is in the curtilage of the Ursuline convent and Chapel, a protected structure (RPS No.43). The convent elements is in the ownership of others, and is subject to redevelopment under grant of planning permission( Sligo Co. reference 19183) for re-purposing as residential apartments. The new college campus will have separate staff vehicular entrance - on the north. A student vehicular drop-off/set down improved at the existing Finisklin Road and new hard surface play areas, landscaping, roads and run off surfaces and ancillary services where necessary.
