Solar Panels & Bird Proofing
Published
Description
This expression of interest enquiry is designed primarily to assess and to determine the interested parties who can provide Nottingham City Council with the provision of the works and material pertaining to the following: Nottingham City Council have a requirement for the provision of Solar Panel Bird Proofing within the North, South, East and West of the City of Nottingham. Across the length and breadth of the country pigeons and other pests cause significant damage to solar panels. The solar panel provide the ideal, sheltered and warm void for birds and mammals to nest under. Serious damage is also created by corrosive pigeon droppings which build up in no time on the panels and also the framework, the bird guano carries numerous diseases that can be very damaging to health. NCC need to avert any of the issues relating to birds nesting under solar panels and stop pigeons getting under the solar panels. Products must be installed that are specifically designed for solar panels, firstly to ensure they are effective and secondly to ensure that the panel warranty isn’t voided. The type of solar panel bird-proofing that should be installed must be in the form of the most suitable and effective mesh or spikes in the market place, on all sides of the array, preventing birds from getting under the panels. We anticipate the potential total value of the works to be between £200k and 250K per annum. Contractors must understand that predicting volumes and therefore overall values for work is difficult and no guarantee is given regarding continuity or overall value and will, therefore, not be able to claim for loss of profit, or any other costs resulting from an alteration in the scope or volume. The contract is being procured by NCC for a period of 12 months with the option for NCC to extend for a further 2 years in 12 months increments. NB This expression of interest enquiry is for information only at this stage, the full set of documents will be issued with the Invitation to Tender later.
