Sligo County Council is looking for the accommodation services in Sligo Town, Ballymote and Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo accessible by public transport or on foot, from November 2023 until the end of March 2024, and which may be continued. Homeless Accommodation for single adults or couples in apartments, houses, hotels, guesthouses with access to kitchen, bathroom, recreation rooms. Some of these facilities may be communal. The accommodation must adhere to fire safety, security and be of regulated size for the number of occupants. Where males and females are to be accommodated, separate male and female sleeping rooms should be provided. It would be desirable if some communal areas and some sleeping areas are disability accessible. It may be useful to have rooms suitable to place couples. Consideration will be given to independent units of accommodation with some communal facilities. The duration of the provision shall be at least 6 months (1 November 2023 – 31 March 2024) and may be continued. Specific Requirements • Temporary emergency accommodation (TEA) to be leased or licenced for single people/ couples who are deemed homeless by Sligo County Council within the understanding and definition of the Housing Act 1988 and within the context of the North-West Homelessness Action Plan. • And/or short-term accommodation for people who are deemed in need of same by Sligo County Council within the understanding and definition of the Housing Act 1988 and within the context of the North-West Homelessness Action Plan. • This is not intended for children, only adults over 18 years who have been registered as homeless by Sligo County Council and so as to provide sufficient emergency accommodation beds available to safeguard against persons who are homeless and at risk of rough sleeping due to acute housing shortages.
