Description
To request an application pack please email: jointcommissioning@wigan.gov.uk Are you a service provider/ community group or voluntary organisation working across the Wigan Borough and with an additional small funding opportunity, could create or grow a community group/activity or service for Wigan’s children with additional needs and/or disability? If so, we would like to hear from you. Wigan Council Children’s Services are looking to support groups or service providers with a ringfenced round of small investment funding for creation of children and young people’s community short break sufficiency. The dedicated fund will aim to increase local community inclusive short break provision by creating additional opportunities for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as well as utilise and improve community spaces. It is important the projects that are successful in receiving one off creation funding demonstrate sustainability and impact on the community. We want to invest locally, with ethical service providers and create opportunities for smaller Voluntary Community Faith & Social Enterprise(s) (VCFSE) to be part of a partnership alliance of local service provision for children and young people with SEND. What is it we are looking for? Through wide engagement and consultation with our children and young people, parents/carers of children with SEND, we are looking for: • Creativity and originality • Sustainability for the future delivery of service/activity. • Collaboration with other organisations/groups • Ideas that build on existing service provision/assets that will enable them to become more widely available and inclusive of children and young people with SEND. • Opportunities to bring people together in new ways or places. • Ideas that have a wide reach, involving those children and young people that are not already engaging. • Support opportunities for young people with SEND lived experience to develop new skills through volunteering opportunities. Funding Having taken learning from the initial Round 1 we have now introduced a maximum grant funding limit per project of £35,000, this is to enable us to maximise as many opportunities as possible for our children and young people with SEND. There is no single minimum value however all amounts requested must be within the maximum funding value to be considered. Organisations or community groups are able to apply as single organisations, as part of an alliance or both for different activities or ideas. Successful applications must be able to deliver within 12 months. The funding application window will open on Monday 30th September 2024 at 10:00am and close on Friday 22nd November 2024 at 17:00pm.
