Description
The University of Essex is seeking tenders for a project to undertake fire safety improvements works within Tawney Tower to enable ongoing occupation of the building following the introduction of the Building Safety Act 2022 (and subsequent legislation related to High Rise Properties (Fire Safety Act 2022 and The Higher-Risk Building Regulation 2023)). The works proposed are intended to give the tower an extended period of life (currently estimated at 5 years) until there is sufficient funding to complete a full upgrade/refurbishment. These works will address critical infrastructure improvements related to fire doors to make significant enhancements and increase the likelihood of obtaining the required Building Assessment Certificate. This project is focusing only on the communal area doors which the University of Essex would like to be replaced with certified 60-minute fire door sets.
